WINTER AT A GLANCE
Lapland’s winter is a captivating adventure. The Northern Lights grace the arctic skies from late August to early April, making aurora hunting a magical experience. The Northern Lights appear approximately 150 nights a year in the Rovaniemi area. Naturally, the local weather affects the catching of the auroras. The polar night, known as “Kaamos,” casts Lapland into extended darkness, creating a canvas for mystical starry skies. The permanent snow covers the ground on average by the end of November, and it mostly melts during April, considered a snowy month.
